Class Outline
Lettering with Watercolors
12 hour program
Welcome to Lettering with Watercolors by Ana Victoria! Here you will learn both basic watercolor techniques and how to achieve modern and organic lettering skills using your paintbrush! This is the perfect class for beginners, as well as experienced designers who are looking to integrate hand lettering into their portfolio. We will combine illustration techniques into your final masterpieces. Each student will work on a personal project with one on one guidance from the teacher.
Students will leave this class having a better understanding of watercolors as a medium and awesome illustrations that can be pieces of art on their own or used in personal projects.
Schedule: 3 sessions
April 29th, 30th and May 1st from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm

Introductions
Basic watercolor techniques
Transparencies and gradients
Pulse and precision
A few experimental activities
Slideshow/Visual inspiration
Session 2
Now that we know how to use our paints and have discovered new textures and ways to use watercolors, we can start practicing lettering!
Lettering practice with font guide sheets
We will begin sketching out our ideas for our final masterpiece! I work with each person individually to help them develop their concept.
Session 3
We spend the entire day on our final illustration: Painting your Favorite Phrase or Quote

Supplies:
Students must bring:
- Watercolor paper pad:
recommended size 9” x 12”

- Watercolor paints:
Pan sets or tubes are both great.
Cotman, Winsor & Newton, Sennelier and Schmincke are GREAT brands.
- Different sized round brushes: Size 0, 1 and 8 are recommended
- Palette: this can be a ceramic/plastic bowl, or you can use the back of
your pan set as well
Teacher will provide:
Assortment of specialized paints to experiment with
India ink
White acrylic paint
Household supplies for experimental textures (salt, bleach, etc.)
Visual material
Gift bags and diplomas are always included!
