In the anthroposophical view, art is not merely expression, it is a bridge to the invisible. Through color, light, and transparency, we can touch the living forces that shape both nature and the human soul.

The basis of artistic creation is not what is,
but what might be; not the real, but the possible.”
— Rudolf Steiner, in The Aesthetics of Goethe’s Worldview

Why learn veil painting with me?

I first came to veil painting as a long time artist who had just enrolled my first child in Waldorf education.

Over the past few years, I have been studying this beautiful and mysterious practice by learning with different teachers from around the world, searching for obscure and very hard to find books, experimenting in my own studio, and experiencing each lesson through the eyes of a watercolor painter.

I know how complex veil painting and anthroposophy can feel at the beginning. The language, the philosophy, and even the painting process can seem difficult to grasp. My role is to make the path feel simpler and more welcoming.

We begin with the painting itself:

Color, transparency, observation, repetition, and experience. From there, I will gently introduce you to the ideas behind the practice and share the teachers, resources, and perspectives that have taken me years of searching and studying to find.

I am still on this journey too. I am simply an artist who has found veil painting to be one of the most fascinating artistic and spiritual practices I have encountered, and I would be honored to explore it alongside you.

You do not need to understand everything before you begin. We will take it one layer at a time.
